Kenora MPP wants feedback on Highway snow clearing

KENORA -- It's been more than a decade since the province decided to privatize highway maintenance and snowplowing in the Northwest. That decade-old decision continues to be a cause for concern.

KENORA -- It's been more than a decade since the province decided to privatize highway maintenance and snowplowing in the Northwest.

That decade-old decision continues to be a cause for concern. Some people believe cost-cutting measures may lead to a reduced quality of service.

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell hopes area motorists will provide her with feedback on their experiences of highway driving after a snowfall. She believes despite private companies handling the service, the Ministry of Transportation still has an obligation to ensure roads are clear and up to provincial standards.

Campbell also reminds drivers that there is no replacement for good driving habits, like planning ahead to ensure enough time for a safe arrival at your destination.
