KENORA, Ont. – OPP rescued a man and child late last month after being stranded on a pile of rocks on Shoal Lake.

According to Ontario Provincial Police, officers were dispatched to a marine call on Monday, Aug. 31 around 2:42 a.m.

Police say a 37-year-old man with a 7-year-old were stranded on a pile of rocks and the waves were getting larger.

Police attended the area and were able to locate the two who were transported back to their camp after being wrapped with warm jackets.

OPP want to remind those who are heading out onto the water to always be prepared.

With temperatures dipping down, a dry bag with warm clothes, food and a water proof fire starter could save your life.

Always let people know where you are going, and make sure all required boater safety equipment is on board prior to departing.
