Kenora OPP respond to more than 145 calls over weekend

Police responded to a variety of calls and laid 12 charges from Feb. 5 to Feb. 8 in Kenora.

KENORA, Ont., — Ontario Provincial Police responded to 147 calls last weekend in Kenora.

OPP responded to a variety of different calls from Friday, Feb. 5 to Monday, Feb. 8, according to a news release. In total, police laid 12 charges under the criminal code and highway traffic act. 

Some of the calls police attended to included: four alarms, four attempts or threats of suicide, two ambulance assistance, six family disputes, four thefts, six liquor licence acts, six traffic complaints, six domestic disputes, nine police assistance, 10 police information, two mental health acts, seven motor vehicle collision, three warrants, two impaireds, and 18 unwanted people.

Kenora OPP is reminding citizens there are other ways to report minor crimes including the Citizen Self Reporting online tool.

It can be accessed from a computer or a mobile device and sent directly to OPP anywhere.

Calls for service that can be reported online include: 

  • Theft under $5.000
  • Mischief/damage to property under $5,000
  • Mischief/damage to vehicle under $5,000
  • Theft from vehicle
  • Lost/missing property under $5,000
  • Stolen license plates
  • Driving complaints
