Kenora's Mastromatteo finshes sixth in 100M breastroke heat in Tokyo

Kenora swimmer will not advance to the semifinals after posting a time of 1:01.56, four seconds behind the overall leader, Adam Peaty of Great Britain.

TOKYO -- Kenora's Gabe Mastromatteo's Olympic debut resulted in a sixth-place finish in his 100-metre breast stroke heat.

Mastromatteo finished in a time of 1:01:56 on Saturday, swimming in the third heat, about a second-and-a-half behind heat winner Matti Mattson of Finland.

He had the 33rd best overall time and did not advance to the semifinals in the event. Only the top 16 times moved on.

Great Britain's Adam Peaty, the world record holder, topped all swimmers with a time of 57.56.
