March is recognized nationally as Kidney Health Month and the Kidney Foundation of Canada is busy getting the word out about proper kidney health and the need for organ donations.
Officials with the foundation were at St. Martin School Friday morning to pass out educational booklets to Grade 5 students. The kids also heard an emotional testimony from special guests Stacey St. Cyr and her daughter Shianne.
Stacey has been living with kidney disease for the past six years, and has been on dialysis ever since.
She said it's never too early for kids to learn about kidney health and organ donation.
Galon added that while kidney disease can strike anyone, it's important to minimize the risks through healthy diet and exercise as well as regular visits to the doctor.
