A man accused of aggravated assault and several firearms related charges stemming from a 2013 incident has pleaded not guilty.
Casmir King’s trial began Monday with jury selection.
King also entered a plea of not-guilty on all three charges, which include aggravated assault, reckless use of a firearm, and use of a firearm in a careless manner.
King, 27-years-old at the time of his arrest, was first accused of attempted murder following an incident that took place on May 18, 2013 at East Bay, Dog Lake.
An altercation took place between 28-year-old Scott McKinnon and another individual when a third individual stepped in.
McKinnon was shot twice with a .22 caliber rifle, which was allegedly discharged by King.
McKinnon was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
King was released on bail to await trail.
King now faces the charge of aggravated assault.
The trial resumes Tuesday and is expected to take two weeks.
