GULL BAY FIRST NATION, Ont. – Wilfred King has been given another two-year mandate at the helm of Gull Bay.

King was re-elected as chief of the community on Lake Nipigon during a Saturday vote, finishing more than 200 votes ahead of the runner-up candidate.

“I see this victory as a clear mandate from the people as an endorsement of the direction I have taken the community in since I re-assumed leadership in 2013,” King said in a statement.

“I have taken an aggressive stand to mitigate the negative impacts to my community and will continue to reinforce the federal government's obligations to provide services which are not only essential to the health and well-being of members but should also begin to flow funds that our Nation is clearly entitled to while we continue to make great gains in establishing legitimate traction"

King, who had served as chief for eight years before being voted out in 2010, was elected back into the role in 2013.
