Knife-brandishing robbery suspect arrested

Suspect allegedly pulled a knife on woman and demanded she empty her pockets after being confronted for going through vehicles in nearby parking lot.

THUNDER BAY -- A 22-year-old man remains behind bars after being arrested for allegedly robbing a woman at knife-point.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers were called to the 600 block of Sherrington Drive at about 10:30 p.m. Monday night after receiving reports of the incident.

According to police, the victim noticed a man going through vehicles in a nearby parking lot. She questioned the man about what he was doing. The suspect briefly left the scene but returned with a knife and demanded the woman empty her pockets.

Officers located a man matching the suspect's description crawling underneath a vehicle in the Athens Drive area. Officers also learned the suspect was wanted by police on other unrelated charges.

Scott Randall Walford, who is charged with robbery and non-compliance with a probation order, appeared in court Tuesday morning and remains in custody with a future appearance date.
