Knife-wielding assailant arrested and charged

Police say a 27-year-old robbery suspect was apprehended after a brief struggle and a weapon was recovered.

THUNDER BAY – A 27-year-old city resident is facing a number of charges after a 20-year-old man alleged he was assaulted on Tuesday night by a man brandishing a knife.

Thunder Bay Police arrested Jordan Beaudoin after a brief struggle after spotting him running down Prince Arthur Boulevard toward Heron Street.

The initial incident was alleged to have taken place at about 9:15 p.m. in the 500 block of Wiley Street.

Police say when the suspect, who reportedly knew the alleged victim, was apprehended, a knife was found in his possession.

The victim told police his phone was taken and smashed by the suspect and a small quantity of cash was taken before he fled. Paramedics treated the victim on scene.

The suspect faces several charges, including robbery with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, uttering threats to kill, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, resisting arrest, breach of probation and four counts of breaching a court order.

Beaudoin appeared in court on Wednesday morning and remains behind bars.
