Kenora detachment OPP reports that officers responded to a fight on First Street South in Kenora Saturday evening. While investigating the incident, police say a man confronted officers.

The man attempted to obstruct the investigation, police say.

The man then became agitated and pulled a knife on one of the officers. The officer disarmed the man, but after being disarmed police say the man grabbed a broken bottle and tried to attack officers.

The man later barricaded himself inside a room. Officers were able to talk the man out and arrest him.

A 28-year-old suspect now faces charges of obstructing police, escaping custody, assaulting a police officer and assault with a weapon.
