Citing icy conditions on area roads, Lakehead Public Schools has closed all rural schools in the Thunder Bay area on Wednesday.
Rural schools under the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board umbrella remain open.
However, all rural bus routes to schools in both boards have been cancelled, including routes to secondary schools in the city.
Affected Lakehead Public Schools institutions include the following:
- Valley Central
- Crestview
- Nor'Wester View
- Whitefish Valley
- Five Mile
- Gorham and Ware
- McKenzie
- Kakabeka Falls
The Catholic Board, in a message posted on its website, encourages parents to send their children to school "as it is business as usual."
