THUNDER BAY -- Lakehead University hosted a number of activities this past week in celebration of National Aboriginal Day.

About 600 students from 18 different schools around the city took part.

Students rotated through a number of stations that taught them about Aboriginal heritage, medicine, drumming, sport and other aspects of First Nation culture.

The Secretary of the National Aboriginal Day committee, Joyce Hunter, told TBT News that the event was designed to bring communities together, and the results have been very positive.

Hunter adds that National Aboriginal Day was designed to help educate everyone about who Aboriginals are as a people, and events like this are a good example of that effort.
