WINDSOR, Ont. -- The Windsor Lancers are a win away from a berth at the University Cup.

Nathan Torchia made 27 saves and earned an assist on the eventual game-winning goal, leading the host Lancers to a 4-0 win on Wednesday night over the visiting Lakehead Thunderwolves.

Windsor leads the best-of-three OUA West final 1-0 and can wrap up the series and a spot in the Queen's Cup with a Game 2 win on Friday night at Fort William Gardens.

Keegan McMullen scored once and added an assist for the Lancers, with singles going to Grant Spence, who opened the scoring at 2:32 of the first, beating LU's Max Wright.

Sean Olson and Mason Kohn, into the empty net, had third-period tallies for Windsor.

The team that loses the final will have a second chance to earn a berth at nationals, slated for Charlottetown, P.E.I. later this month. The OUA has three berths at the University Cup, so a bronze-medal game will be played between the OUA East and OUA West runners-up, at the OUA West team's rink.

Tickets for Friday's game will be back on sale at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, with limited inventory remaining.
