THUNDER BAY – About 26 people and some management have received layoff notice from Lac Des Iles.
A representative from the Steelworkers union has confirmed the layoffs and says the notice came due to current ore prices. According to the company, those prices no longer make the mill economic at this time.
The company is now realigning its mill operations.
