Hello Thunder Bay,
I have been reading today about the increase to the Art Gallery building cost. I find it very frustrating that this project is going to cost this much more. This was budgeted and bid at a much lower price.
I have been in business for many years, here in Thunder Bay. Lowerys has been here since 1905. We have tried, unsuccessfully, to win the city office products business, over the years, with no luck. The big American businesses win, Grand and Toy and Staples. They have very deep pockets and can buy this business. At the end of the day, we are not talking about not a lot of money difference, but this money would stay local. We could employ more people here, rather than these companies that have no employees here, and are American.
So it seems, every building project goes over budget by millions, and that is ok . Where is the accountability?
But the city of Thunder bay, and the school boards and the hospital, and the College and LU, all buy from American companies with their eyes closed. This is not fair to the Thunder Bay tax payers, or the local businesses
With all of the American tariffs maybe this should looked at.
