The federal Liberal party's Indigenous caucus has reiterated its call for Lynn Beyak to resign from the Senate.

It is also pressing Conservative leader Andrew Scheer to remove Beyak from the Conservative caucus.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that although Beyak remains in the Conservative caucus, she has been relieved of her duties on three Senate committees.

In a statement, the Liberal Indigenous caucus said Beyak has demonstrated "her ignorance regarding Indigenous issues and human rights...It is unacceptable for any member of Canada's Parliament to use their position to promote outdated and misguided view of Indigenous Peoples."

Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Don Rusnak chaired the Indigenous caucus until his appointment this week as Parliamentary Secretary to the minister of Indigenous Services.

Rusnak was replaced by Manitoba MP Dan Vandal, but he remains a member of the Indigenous caucus.
