An elderly couple in O'Connor Township got the fright of their lives Wednesday morning.
They were just leaving their home on Broome Road when the house was struck by lightning.
O'Connor volunteer fire crews rushed to the scene just after 9:30 a.m. and put out a fire in the attic and on the roof.
Fire Chief Henry Mattas says fortunately no one was hurt.
He added that the couple reported hearing a big bang and said it was loudest thing they've ever heard in their lives.
