Lindstrom makes first court appearance

THUNDER BAY - A man who was already convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 10 years is before the courts again, this time facing charges of kidnapping.

Eric Lindstrom, 41, made his first court appearance via video in a Thunder Bay courtroom on Tuesday where his case was remanded to Oct. 31 to set a date for a judicial pre-trial.

Lindstrom’s attorney, Leon Nicol, requested the matter be remanded because he has not received any disclosure from the arrest on Oct. 4.

Lindstrom was arrested on Oct. 4, 2017 by plain clothes officers near Victoriaville Mall. It is alleged that Lindstrom was involved in the kidnapping of a 28-year-old man. He is facing charges of kidnapping, assault, uttering threats, and breach of probation. Police said the incident involved the drug trade.

In 2012, Lindstrom was convicted of manslaughter in connection to the 2009 death of 36-year-old Richard Ouimet. He was sentenced to 10 years, which included two years for committing an indignity to a human remains. He was given two-for-one credit for time served prior to the sentencing.
