THUNDER BAY -- Sleeping Giant Brewing Company representatives will be coming home from the annual provincial beer competition with a little extra luggage.
The Thunder Bay brewery earned four honours at the Ontario Brewing Awards held in Toronto earlier this week, highlighted by a gold showing in the light lager category for their Grassroots Lager.
Grassroots, a partnership with the hockey-playing Staal brothers to coincide with the Staal Foundation Open, is a seasonal release that has been brewed since 2017.
The brewery claimed silver for their Northern Logger, Love and Happiness imperial stout and amber lager.
"There were a lot of great beers, creating tough competition, so this really attests to the superior quality of our product," head brewer Kyle Mulligan said in a release. "Sleeping Giant Brewing Company's craft beers are truly northern, all inspired by Lake Superior, which creates easy drinking, full-flavoured brew."
