Local businesses honoured with annual Chamber awards

They're the backbone of the local economy, and on Saturday evening a number of Thunder Bay businesses were honoured at the 19th annual Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Gala.

They're the backbone of the local economy, and on Saturday evening  a number of Thunder Bay businesses were honoured at the 19th annual Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Gala.

Diane Petryna, Owner of the outdoor lifestyle store Take A Hike, is one of three recipients of the Commitment to Quality Award. She's operated her store, now located on Bay Street, since 1996. 

Petryna says accepting this prestigious award ranks right near the top of her list of accomplishments.

Other award winners include the Fort William Historical Park for the Tourism Partner Award, Ruth Graham Armstrong for the Charles J. Carter Award of Excellence, and The Sovereign Room for the New Business Excellence Award. 

OLG Casino won the Customer Service Award, and the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra won the Not for Profit Excellence Award.
