THUNDER BAY -- All around the world Rotarians live their lives based on the credo of “Service Above Self.”
The members of Fort William Rotary once again truly demonstrated service above self as the club distributed $259,827.53 to 14 local charitable organizations.
On Wednesday, October 18, seven local organizations received $214,873.28 at the Fort William Rotary Club Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.
Another seven organizations received $44,954.25 over the past four months.
“For a very small club, we do make a significant and resounding impact in our community,” said Fort William Rotary president Therese Lim.
"Fort William Rotarians, along with the dedicated community volunteers, work incredibly hard to raise the funds necessary to support so many organizations who in turn make our community a better place to live.”

Most of the funds donated by Fort William Rotary were raised through the 2017 Rotary House Lottery.
This year, 12,000 tickets were sold between March and May.
The 2018 Rotary Lottery House will be located at 1 Pioneer Drive in the Sherwood Estates area.
The builder is Lormar Construction and tickets will go on sale in the Spring of 2018 at local retailers and at weekend open houses at the lottery house. The house will be drawn on July 1, 2018.
“We are very thankful for the community support of our annual House Lottery,” Lim said.
“It would not be possible to do what we do for our community without the support that we receive.”
