THUNDER BAY -- Fuel prices continue to drop at gas bars across this province and country, but in this city motorists are still paying some of the highest rates in Ontario.
The gas price watchdog website ontariogasprices.com shows that some gas bars in Thunder Bay are serving up regular fuel at $1.26-per-litre, which puts the city in a list with some of the most expensive areas of Ontario.
There is some relief for city drivers willing to head next door to Fort William First Nation, where three gas bars are selling fuel for under $1 a litre. In town the least expensive gasoline is going for $1.179, with the vast majority selling at $1.197 or $1.199.
It’s still much better than the $1.39-per-litre prices some drivers in Marathon now face, but as of Wednesday morning there were few gas stations selling fuel at that price.
In Ontario, the average price for a litre of fuel costs drivers $1.09-a-litre, while the average Canadian can expect to pay $1.10.
While prices are listed as being stable at the moment, there are numerous Ontario gas bars selling fuel below the dollar-a-litre mark.
According to gasbuddy.com, another online fuel price watchdog, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Saskatoon and Calgary feature the lowest average prices for regular fuel right now.
In Edmonton, the price is nearly below 90-cents a litre with the average for the last 24-hours posted at 91.4-cents-a-litre in that city.
