Local inflation rate dips in February, but still among the highest in Canada

According to a new report from Statistics Canada, Thunder Bay’s inflation rate fell to 1.7 per cent in February. In January this area recorded an inflation rate of 2.2 per cent.

The 1.7 represents a higher inflation rate that most major urban areas in the country. Vancouver, which had an inflation rate of 1.8 per cent in February, was the only major city to have a rate above Thunder Bay.

The local rate is also a bit higher than the Ontario average, which sits at 1.6 per cent. The national average is 1.4.
