THUNDER BAY – A local lawyer has pleaded guilty to a number of charges related to a domestic violence incident earlier this year.

Mason Millar on Monday pleaded guilty to assault and mischief as well as multiple counts of threatening death of bodily harm and failure to comply with bail or probation after being arrested in July.

Despite the Crown requesting a six month sentence with credit for time served, Millar received a three month conditional sentence and has been ordered to enter substance abuse rehabilitation and other counselling programs.

Defence lawyer Chris Watkins said Millar is under suspension by the Law Society of Upper Canada and it is not clear if he will practice law again.
