The Olympics have come to a close, leaving all of Canada with memories of the unforgettable spectacle.
For those who were at the Games, those memories are that much more personal. Several Thunder Bay area residents were among those in Vancouver for the Olympic games, and they're returning home with glowing reports on the experience.
One of the first to get home was Julie Tilbury, one of 12 Thunder Bay Police Service officers who worked at the games. Tilbury says the experience is something she will never forget.
For two weeks Det. Const. Tilbury worked at the Whistler Sliding centre conducting general patrol duties. She says the crowds were amazing and generally positive. There were very few problems, she added.
Unlike her normal duties, Tilbury says many people showed their appreciation for the work she was doing.
She said the whole experience has given her a new outlook on Canada.
