THUNDER BAY – A local principal has been recognized for her years of services with the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board.

Jan Bazaluk, principal of Our Lady of Charity elementary school, was recently honoured with a Distinguished Service Award by the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario.

“Jan is a member of the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario, a leader within the Our Lady of Charity School community and a passionate educator inside and outside of the classroom,” the board said in a statement.

Bazaluk has been with the board for 34 years, starting as a teacher and working as an administrator for the past 17 years. She also serves on the Catholic Principals’ Council of Ontario.

She called the award a “great honour,” saying she continues to thoroughly enjoy her work.

“I have been very fortunate to have been among, and work for and with many quality individuals along my career path, many of whom have become cherished colleagues and friends,” she said in a statement. “I have been truly blessed with a fulfilling career, and at the core of that success is the support of family, friends, colleagues, students, parents, parish partners, community partners, and so on.”

“I am truly humbled to be the recipient of this Distinguished Service Award, and am sincerely appreciative of all the contributions others have made to my career accomplishments and ultimate success. With faith all things are possible!”
