Loch Lomond Ski Area is open for the season

Loch Lomond currently has all South hills open, aside from the mullet.

THUNDER BAY – Loch Lomond Ski Area has most of its south face open, and staff are hoping to see more snow in order to open the remainder for this upcoming weekend.

All of the hills on the south end of Loch Lomond aside from one, opened on Friday.

Laura Woodbeck, office manager at Loch Lomond, said it has been a wonderful opening weekend.

“We've had the best opening weekend we've had in the last couple of years.

“Apparently, Mother Nature is going to give us some more snow in the next few days, which would give us the greatest opening weekends before Christmas break,” she said.

Woodbeck said staff are looking forward to a wonderful Christmas at Loch Lomond, with the most snow they’ve seen in years.

“I want everyone to know that there are a whole bunch of programs still running at Loch Lomond. We have the ski programs for the children or adults learn to ski.

“There's much room and much excitement around here. Join us out at Loch Lomond. We'll be open again next weekend, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, come out and enjoy the winter wonderland and be one of the first to come out and ski the north side,” she said.

There have been some changes at the ski hill this year, Woodbeck said.

“I'm happy to announce this year that we've had a rebuild of the Loch Lomond team. We have a great menu, a whole bunch of soul food on our menu.

“Everything is brand new. The energy level here this year is amazing. You really don't want to miss the opportunity to come out and ski at Loch this year."

Woodbeck said there are many packages and a ton of lesson options, which are available on their website.

“We've had the full south minus the mullet open this weekend and we are going to start doing some snow making on the north.

“Let's look forward to a part of our north being open and with Mother Nature's blessing, we could very well have most of the north open for next weekend."

Woodbeck said starting on Dec. 18, Loch Lomond will be open for all of Christmas straight through until after New Year's, seven days a week.

“I look forward to seeing everyone come out,” Woodbeck said.
