(KENORA, ON) – The Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a number of thefts from vehicles in Kenora this weekend on the south side of the city.
On Monday April 25, 2016 at approximately 2 a.m., police received a complaint of two males entering various vehicles in the area. Police arrived minutes later and observed the 2 males, one ran from police and was not located.
As a result of this investigation, a 19-year-old from Kenora has been charged with theft from a motor vehicle under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime Under $5,000, fail to comply with probation order times two, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He appeared in court on April 25, 2016 to answer to the charges.
Police remind the public that these actions are crimes of opportunity. Leaving vehicles unlocked and valuables in sight place a target on your vehicle and property.
