THUNDER BAY – Steady rain throughout the weekend has resulted in some localized ponding around the city.

THUNDER BAY – Steady rain throughout the weekend has resulted in some localized ponding around the city.

The Lakehead Region Conservation Area released an updated flood outlook statement Monday morning for Thunder Bay as well as Neebing, Oliver Paipoonge, Shuniah and the townships of O’Connor, Conmee, Gillies and Dorion.

The conservation authority reported 15 to 27 millimetres of rain had been recorded in area gauges during the weekend with an additional 10 millimetres of precipitation expected into tomorrow.

The flood outlook statement is not a flood warning and is just meant to provide early notice based on weather forecasts calling for heavy rain, snow melt or other conditions that could lead to high runoff, cause ice jams or affect waterways.
