THUNDER BAY -- Sometimes getting a job is as much about who you know as what you know.

Students at Lakehead University are being given the chance to connect with industry professionals this week at the school's annual Career and Job Expo.

Representatives from dozens of companies were at LU Tuesday and dozens more will visit Thursday to recruit students and upcoming graduates for a variety of employment opportunities.

Tuesday mainly featured mining and construction companies as well as government agencies. Thursday's career fair will focus more on business and health.

LU Career and Employment Specialist Christina Buzzi calls it a great way for students to explore their options, and get a foot in the door of potential employers.

Buzzi expects to see at least 1,500 students pass through the Agora to take advantage of the opportunity.
