Lakehead University officials were introducing Aboriginal students to a range of options Tuesday as the school held its second annual Aboriginal preview day.

Aboriginal community officer Yolanda Wanakamik said the event gives students in Grades 9 through 12 a chance to see all the various undergrad and graduate programs offered at LU.

She added that she hopes to bring a larger Aboriginal presence to post-secondary schools by holding events geared towards First Nations teenagers.

Wanakamik said bringing culture and alumni to the students helps to show the support they would have if deciding to attend university.

About 200 students were registered for the event and plans are already in the works for next year's preview day.
