THUNDER BAY -- About 400 students at Lakehead University were lucky the mercury didn't drop too low last night.
A hot-water pipe at the LU residences broke Monday, leaving the Prettie and Bartley units with no heat or hot water overnight.
The break was repaired earlier Tuesday, and things are back to normal.
Residence manager David Hare says it would have been a major problem if this occurred last week, when temperatures plummeted to -30C.
But because it was a mild night, he says there were no requests from students for extra blankets or relocation to another building.
