A 24-year-old man is in custody after a machete incident on Thunder Bay’s south side.

Police say the suspect allegedly stopped a cyclist driving southbound on Edward Street and began advancing toward the man, who yelled across the street to see what the suspect wanted.

A vehicle drove by, stopping the suspect from immediately advancing, which is when the victim noticed the machete in the suspect’s hand.

The victim quickly left the area and phoned police.

The accused was arrested a short distance from the incident and has been charged with weapons dangerous to public peace, carry a concealed weapon and breach of probation.
