THUNDER BAY - The second phase of the Main Street Bridge repair work will begin in early March and is expected to lead to a two-month closure.

The City of Thunder Bay on Wednesday said the project is scheduled to resume on March 4 after pausing during the winter.

The second phase includes continuing concrete repairs to the piers and coating of the structural steel. The continuous road closure which will go into effect in March will allow for work on the piers.

The city is asking those travelling in the area to use the detour routes provided and obey all traffic personnel and signage.

The bridge repairs began last year with the first phase of construction, which included waterproofing and repaving the bridge deck, as well as concrete repairs and steel coating.
