Keith Hobbs was wading in the water Wednesday to promote the city.
The mayor took a stroll through the splash pad at Prince Arthur’s Landing for a photo shoot. The photo will run in Thunder Bay Experience magazine. Hobbs said he’s been doing a shoot yearly since he became mayor.
“It’s sent to all different cities throughout North America and it promotes Thunder Bay,” he said.
The magazine is also stacked in area hotels. Hobbs said he wanted to feature the waterfront this year because of how popular the renovated spot has been. The city estimates the marina has seen more than 60,000 people between Blues Fest, Festival of India and Canada Day.
“Just for those events and it’s just been phenomenal what’s happened down here at the waterfront,” he said.
It was Hobbs’ first time in the splash pad.
“It was not bad. The water wasn’t too bad at all.”
The magazine will be on shelves in December.
