Man, 86, dies after Memorial Avenue collision

Victim turned onto Fourth Avenue and crashed into structure on Thunder Bay Transit property. He died of his injuries after being rushed to hospital.

THUNDER BAY -- An 86-year-old man is dead after a two-vehicle collision on Memorial Avenue. 

City police, in a release issued on Wednesday afternoon, said the driver of one of the cars remained on scene where the collision occurred, but the other vehicle continued northward on Memorial Avenue, turned right onto Fourth Street and lost control of his car and collided with a building on the Thunder Bay Transit headquarters' property. 

The male driver was rushed to hospital, where he died of his injuries. 

Police are still investigating the incident, which led to the closure of the intersection at High Street South and Fourth Avenue.
