Man and woman arrested amid drug trafficking investigation in Kenora

(KENORA, ON) Members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) with the assistance of the Organized Crime and Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) Kenora Drug Unit and the Aboriginal Intelligence Unit (AIU) have charged two people with drug related charges.

On Tuesday August 11, 2015 just before 4:30 pm police arrested a 41 year old female and a 54 year old male following an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activities in the downtown area of Kenora.  Police seized small amounts of methamphetamine and marijuana as well as cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result, 41 year old Jane JOHNSON of Kenora has been charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance (Methamphetamine) for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA), Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (methamphetamine) section 5(1) CDSA,  Possession of a Controlled Substance (marijuana) section 4(1) CDSA and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC). 

Also charged is 54 year old Ron LELOND of Kenora.  He has been charged with Trafficking a Schedule I Substance (methamphetamine) section 5(1) CDSA, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime section 354(1)(a) CC and Fail to Comply with Probation Order (sec 733.1(1) CC).  They have both been held in custody pending a bail hearing on August 12, 2015.
