Thunder Bay Police allege the suspect, who was not named, skidded off the road and onto the meridian at the corner of the Harbour Expressway and Memorial Avenue at approximately 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

The driver fled the scene, but police noticed a vehicle with extensive damage parked in an adjacent lot. The vehicle’s lone occupant was arrested and escorted to police headquarters where he remained in custody for several hours before being released.

He faces charges of drive over 80/impaired driving and breach of probation.

The suspect’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
