Man breaches probation after associating with youth at local church

THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Police have arrested a 71-year-old man on probation for previous sexual offences, accusing him of being involved with youth at a local church. David John Bythell was charged with breach of probation.

THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Police have arrested a 71-year-old man on probation for previous sexual offences, accusing him of being involved with youth at a local church.

David John Bythell was charged with breach of probation. His probation included conditions that stay away from young people. A complaint was filed to police last summer.

The probation order Bythel is under relates to a conviction of sexual offences committed in 2006 and 2008 in southern Ontario.

The suspect appeared in court on Friday morning and was released with a promise to appear for a future court date.

Police ask anyone with additional information about the incident to contact them at 684-1200 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
