THUNDER BAY - A 58-year-old man is facing charges following an investigation into a fatal motor vehicle collision on the city’s northside last September.

John Larry Biancospino, 58, has been charged with careless driving causing death.

The collision occurred on the evening of Sept. 24, 2021 at the intersection of Hill Street and Red River Road and involved a sedan with a single driver and a jeep with passengers.

A man in the jeep was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for treatment but later died of his injuries. The man has since been identified as 25-year-old Daniel Moroz of Thunder Bay.

An investigation was launched by the Thunder Bay Police Service traffic unit following the collision and as a result, Biancospino, the driver of the sedan, has been charged with careless driving causing death.

"They are extensive investigations," said Sal Carchidi, acting Sgt. with the Thunder Bay Police Service Traffic Unit. "We treat all fatal motor vehicle collisions as criminal investigations until they can be proved otherwise, so they are extensive investigations that take some time."
