THUNDER BAY -- The man charged in a fatal hit-and-run crash in October 2011 was released from custody Monday.
Ashley Rheal Shabogomik was released on recognizance in surety of $500 at the provincial courthouse Monday afternoon.
Shabogomik was charged with several offences including criminal negligence causing death and criminal negligence causing bodily harm after he allegedly drove a stolen truck through a stop sign and collided with the passenger side door of a car travelling down Victoria Avenue in October 2011.
Sixty-year-old Joyce Ryan died at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre because of injuries sustained in the collision.
Ryan's husband Phil sustained major injuries in the crash.
It's alleged Shabogomik fled the scene of the incident.
Police arrested him Nov. 14.
The conditions of the Shabogomik's release state that he must reside with his surety in Aroland First Nation and be in their company at all times and must not be in the city of Thunder Bay unless to appear in court or in the presence of his lawyer.
Shabogomik also must refrain from purchasing or consuming alcohol, prescription drugs and illicit drugs and cannot operate a motor vehicle.
Shabogomik is also charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
None of the allegations against the accused have been proven in court.
