Man charged with murder after area stabbing

A Lac Seul First Nation man has been charged with second-degree murder following an incident in that community on Saturday.

Officers with the Lac Seul Police Service say they attended a Frenchman’s Head home following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a seriously injured 34-year-old Simon Bunting.

The Constance Lake First Nation man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have since arrested and charged Felix Wesley, 26, of Lac Seul First Nation, with second-degree murder.

The suspect will remain in custody and was expected to make a court appearance in Sioux Lookout on Monday, July 4.
