Another cross-Canada traveler has made a Thunder Bay pits stop.

Michel Garant is a paraplegic man who is hand-peddling his bicycle across Canada. He was in Thunder Bay and spoke to local media Wednesday.

Garant was left paralyzed from the chest down after a snowboarding accident eight years ago. He started his journey in Vancouver on June 9 with Molo, his Mira service dog. He's hoping to raise $150,000 for the Mira Foundation, which provides free service dogs to people with disabilities or disorders.

Garant said seeing the Terry Fox monument was inspiring, as he tries to become the first paraplegic to cross Canada by a hand-peddled bike for a charitable cause.

Michel Cloutier is handling communications for Garant's challenge, and said the most rewarding part of being involved is witnessing the human side of the event.
