A pedestrian remains in serious condition after an alleged hit and run Wednesday morning.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to Secord Street just before 2 a.m. and said they saw the man had a serious head injury. Paramedics rushed the victim to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre.
Traffic Sgt. Glenn Porter said the man is still in serious condition at the hospital and police haven’t reached his family yet.
"The man was struck by a Ford pick-up truck," Porter said. "We know that the vehicle was being followed by a small white compact car."
Porter said he hopes the driver of the compact car or the driver of the truck will contact police. Witnesses told police that the victim walked a ways down Secord Street before the truck hit him.
Porter said the pick-up truck is dark in colour, most likely blue, and has damage on the front passenger side. It is likely a 1997 to 2003 model.
"We’re hoping the driver will have enough time to take a deep breath and just come forward," he said. "It is the right thing to do."
