THUNDER BAY — A man facing more than 90 charges involving the sharing of images without consent remains in custody while he and the other 12 men charged in the case await a court date next month.

In early February, the Thunder Bay Police Service charged 12 individuals with more than 170 offences relating to sharing intimate images without consent. A 13th individual was charged in March.

A total of 117 victims had been identified through the investigation at that point, which started in 2023, following reports that images of multiple Thunder Bay women had been shared though an online chat platform.

Police have said the case includes victims under the age of 18 — some as young as 12 years old.

Joshua Wanakamik, 34, was charged with 90 counts of distributing images without consent as well as charges of accessing, distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material, identity fraud and unauthorized use of a computer.

A bail review hearing was set for Friday at the Thunder Bay Courthouse for Wanakamik. However, the hearing was adjourned to a later date.
