Manitoba man has pickup impounded after failing roadside test

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an adult male driver with Failing to Provide Breath Sample on March 4, 2016 at 1:37 am.

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an adult male driver with Failing to Provide Breath Sample on March 4, 2016 at 1:37 am. 

During routine patrol, officers stopped a 2011 Pick-up truck on 500 Block of Kings Highway 11in Fort Frances. The driver, a 28 year old Manitoba man, failed the roadside tests and was arrested at the scene and transported to OPP Detachment for breath tests.

Subsequently the driver was charged with:

  • Fail to Provide Breath Sample

The vehicle was impounded for a minimum of 7 days and he was issued a mandatory 90 day drivers licence suspension.  He is scheduled to appear in Fort Frances Court on April 4, 2016. 

The OPP reminds motorists that operating a vehicle under the influence of any amount of alcohol is dangerous and jeopardizes your own safety as well as the safety of others.  If you are planning to consume alcohol then plan to have a sober person drive you home.
