Man's body recovered on Lake of the Woods

KENORA -- The body of a missing Minnesota hunter has been recovered. Ontario Provincial Police said just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday officers responded to a report of a a deceased male located along the shoreline of Powder Island on Lake of the Woods.

Ontario Provincial Police said just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday officers responded to a report of a a deceased male located along the shoreline of Powder Island on Lake of the Woods.

They located the body on Wednesday with the help of the marine and trails unit, identifying the deceased at 28-year-old Keith Ayers of Baudette, Minn. Ayers went missing on Oct. 3, 2015 after his fishing paty did not return to the resort as scheduled. Two other men in the party were found dead about a week after they went missing on the U.S. side of the lake.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for April 23 at Lake of the Woods hospital in Kenora.
