THUNDER BAY – All right, all right, all right, Matthew McConaughey is the latest celebrity to take a taste of Heartbeat Hot Sauce.

The actor, best known for roles in Dazed and Confused, Interstellar and Magic Mike, tested the Thunder Bay company’s original sauce on the online show Hot Ones, and while he didn’t offer up any comment on the sauce itself, he did mention a connection with its home city.

“All right, we’re into this little guy here, Heartbeat Hot Sauce. Thunder Bay, Ont.,” McConaughey said, licking his fingers.

“I’ve got a good friend from Thunder Bay. What’s up, Rapino?”

McConaughey, who won the best actor Oscar in 2014 for Dallas Buyers Club, was referring to concert giant Live Nation chief executive officer and president Michael Rapino, who hails from the Northern Ontario city.

Hot Ones is a YouTube-base show that invites celebrities to sample a variety of hot sauces from around the world, while being interviewed by host Sean Evans. The chicken wings get increasingly spicier as the show goes on.

The Heartbeat Hot Sauce offering was rated at 30,000 Scoville units. McConaughey later tested one rated at 112,000 Scoville units. The Thunder Bay segment can be found at the 13:19 mark of the show.
