If you happened to visit any Thunder Bay McDonald's location Wednesday, you may have found yourself being served by a city politician or local celebrity.
It's all part of the annual McHappy Day celebration.
Mayor Keith Hobbs volunteered his services at the Red River Road restaurant this morning, alongside Rock 94's Holly Siczkar, The Thunder’s Brent Hawley and local members of the Canadian military.
McDonald's spokeswoman Kathy Bukovy says the McHappy Day tradition dates back more than three decades.
Until midnight Wednesday, one dollar from every coffee, tea or McCafé beverage, as well as from every Happy Meal and Big Mac sold goes to support Ronald McDonald House and the Thunder Bay Boys and Girls Club.
About $35 million has been raised since the program's inception.
Bukovy hopes to collect another $14,000 locally during the Wednesday event.
