Canada’s Minister for the Status of Women took a part of Canada Day to remind her constituency that she remains their MP, and is still accessible to the riding.

MP Patty Hajdu (Lib., Thunder Bay – Superior North) held an open house meet-and-greet Canada Day afternoon in hopes of connecting with more of her riding’s residents.

“I think just about everything I do is reminding people that I am here for them,” Hajdu said during an interview with Thunder Bay Television in the midst of her open house.

“I’m their MP and I’m out there fighting for our region and the interests of our community, so this is another way to invite people to the hub of it all.”

She added that it’s their first year celebrating Canada Day as the MP for Thunder Bay-Superior North and so the team wanted to invite the community to the building to get to know the staff better.

“Some people are a bit shy about approaching their MP but once they meet our fabulous staff they are going to know that this is a safe place to come,” she said.

“They can come with issues related to the Federal government, even if its problems not related to the federal government we can make sure they get to the right spot to solve the problem.”
